The next Postdoc Academy starts on June 22, 2020.

The Postdoc Academy is a free and comprehensive program built on the National Postdoctoral Association core competencies to support skill development throughout postdoc training, from orientation to next career step.

This program consists of two (free!) online courses and an online learning community, built specifically for postdocs. The content uses inclusive, active-learning approaches to be a resource for the postdoc audience directly, as well as postdoc offices and associations. The Postdoc Academy: Succeeding as a Postdoc is the first 6-week online course, which will start on June 22, 2020 and registration is now open!

This 6-week course will help postdocs create a rewarding experience that will launch them into their chosen career path. Themes explored include:

  • Finding Success as a Postdoc

  • Building an Actionable Career Plan

  • Working Effectively in an Intercultural Environment

  • Developing Resilience

Each week will focus on one theme and contains between 2-4 hours of content - watching short videos, engaging in discussion forums, and reflecting on self and others. You can complete the course work at any time while the course is running!

The second online course is titled "The Postdoc Academy: Preparing for a Successful Career" and is scheduled to launch early 2021. This series of modules will build advanced skills that will enable postdocs to transition to independence. Themes explored include:

  • Project Management

  • Transitioning from Trainee to Mentor to Career Professional

  • Dealing Effectively with Conflict

  • Applying Teaching Skills Beyond the Classroom

  • Successful Networking

  • Developing Leadership Skills
