What Is Fulbright?

Fulbright is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is open to students who have earned a Bachelor's degree but not yet earned a doctorate. Applicants must be citizens or nationals of the United States at the time of application; permanent residents are not eligible.

If you are planning to apply for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program for the 2025-26 grant cycle or want to learn more about the program, join Fulbright and the UCSB Graduate Division for this virtual info session.

This session will cover types of grants, the components of a Fulbright application, tips for putting together the best Fulbright application possible, and the campus interview process. There will be ample time for Q&A.

The Fulbright competition officially opens on April 2, 2024, and the national deadline is October 8, 2024, at 2 p.m. Pacific time. UCSB's campus deadline (for graduate students ONLY) is Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
