ejIt's Not You, It's Us: Martin Buber's Existentialism and the World(s) of the Play

Eric Jorgensen
Graduate Student in Theater & Dance

Experiencing theater means accepting that you are a part of the action, however momentary that may be. So how can we capture the ephemeral? Martin Buber's I and Thou unconventionally speaks to this fleeting moment. In identifying the critical relationships involved in theater, the momentary encounter becomes intellectually timeless. This talk will introduce the philosophical model that Eric is using to explore the legacy and performativity of the American AIDS play.
