The UCSB Research Mentorship Program (RMP) is seeking graduate students, postdocs, and researchers for a paid mentorship opportunity this summer. The RMP will be delivered virtually in Summer Session A (June 20 – July 30, 2021), and mentors will receive $1,000 per project per student (up to $4,000). The Interdisciplinary Humanities Center (IHC) is accepting applications for 2021-22 graduate instructors to teach in the Foundations in the Humanities program. Foundations in the Humanities is a restorative justice program that uses the study of literature through correspondence courses to enable participants to expand their insight into themselves and their society, for the purpose of building better lives in prison and after their release. Fellows receive a $500 stipend per quarter. Apply by June 1.

The ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit convenes leaders from academia, business, and government to discuss cutting-edge energy technologies, facilitate relationships to move technologies to market, and showcase innovations that will advance solutions to current and future energy challenges. Join UCSB Beyond Academia for a unique event on May 21 designed to connect our campus’ diverse grad student and postdoc population with non-academic professionals who are eager to support them. Participants can engage in real time via a special affiliate Slack workspace to discuss a number of topics of interest. Attendees are also encouraged to engage asynchronously on the Slack space both before and after the event, so even if you can’t make it on May 21, be sure to sign up anyway in order to receive the Slack link!

Join ComSciCon for Combatting COVID with Black Communities, held remotely on Wednesday June 2nd at 9:00am PST. The workshop will provide the latest information on COVID-19 in Black communities, resources on the systemic inequities that lead to this racial disparity in healthcare, and training on science communication and building trust with Black communities.
