The Graduate Division and the College of Creative Studies invites pairs of graduate students to submit a proposal to teach an undergraduate course to be offered in the College of Creative Studies (CCS) during the 2021-22 academic year. The course should be built around a social justice or environmental justice theme, and be taught by two graduate students coming from different fields. Students selected for this opportunity will be provided two $5,000 stipends in Summer/Fall to develop the course as well as an Associate position to teach in Winter 2022. Apply by June 1, 2021. The “Pillars of Teaching Assistantship” workshop series and certificate is designed to provide TAs with a comprehensive, research-based foundation for teaching in the role of TA. On April 9, join Instructional Development for a workshop on preparing your CCUT portfolio! The session will provide tips on writing the CCUT teaching portfolio, including ways of presenting teaching materials, documenting student ratings, meeting the technology requirement, tone of the portfolio narration, and more. Participants need to have completed at least two of the CCUT requirements.

On April 2, join Instructional Development for a workshop on iClicker Cloud. The iClicker Cloud mobile/web application is FREE for students and instructors. Learn how to quickly engage students, promote discussion, and assess understanding using iClicker polls and word clouds.

Whether it's linking sentences, paragraphs, sections, or chapters, narrative is what allows good writing to flow. This workshop on April 14 will teach participants the ins and outs of narrative. On April 2, join Instructional Development for a workshop on teaching philosophy statements! As a participant in this workshop, you will work through a series of exercises to help you reflect on your teaching, and by the end of the workshop you will have a draft outline of your teaching philosophy statement.

Finding and borrowing materials from libraries across the UC system is about to get easier. On July 27, 2021, the libraries on all 10 University of California campuses will be connected through UC Library Search, a unified discovery and borrowing system that will allow you to borrow and renew materials from any library in the UC system using only your UCSB NetID and password.
