Capps Center for the Study of Ethics, Religion, and Public Life for an exciting conversation about the intellectual and practical aspects of identifying and pursuing the career of your dreams.

As part of the Professional Development Series for postdocs and graduate students, Dr. Kimberly Tanner will share her knowledge and path towards working in the field of biology education. Dr. Tanner holds a PhD in Neuroscience from UCSF and is currently a faculty member in the Department of Biology at San Francisco State University.

The Data Incubator is an intensive 8-week fellowship that prepares masters students, PhDs, and postdocs in STEM and social science fields seeking industry careers as data scientists. The program is free for Fellows and supported by sponsorships from hundreds of employers across multiple industries.

Passed up a prior funding workshop? Need a refresher? Have new questions? Come ​join our first Finding Funding Workshop of winter quarter on January 17. You'll get clarity on funding-related questions ranging from admissions, external fellowships, project money, and research grants as well as where to get answers for each type of scenario. Want to learn more about ways to communicate your scientific work? Join CSEP on January 16 for an opportunity to hear from Rita Blaik, a multidisciplinary scientist and artist that has dedicated her work to finding new and innovative ways of communicating science to people through workshops, interactive discussions, art, and other media. Lecturing for 50 minutes can put a lot of pressure on TAs, from preparing an entire lecture to feeling responsible for going over all the material from that week’s lectures. This workshop will provide you with easy and flexible activities to use in the classroom to get your students moving, talking, reflecting, and building knowledge.

The UCSB Center for Spatial Studies is looking for interested students to present at the 2018 Spatial Lightning Talks. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) Summer Internship Program provides opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in projects at federal research facilities located across the country.
