The 21st Century Global Dynamics Fellowship is open to all UCSB students who have advanced to Ph.D. candidacy with a research emphasis that is aligned with the specific theme(s) announced in the Call for Applications. The current call for Winter 2017 Applications is for Human Rights and Governance.

They are seeking an advanced Ph.D. student working at the intersection of human rights and global governance. The Fellow will conduct research for publications in 21st century globalization. Ability to work 20 hours a week in Winter 2017 is required, with possible continuation in Spring 2017. Fellowships provide one academic quarter of in-state tuition/fees plus a stipend of $7,500 to Ph.D. students in the humanities and social sciences. Fellows work under the direction of a Mellichamp Professor, providing support for research in one of the cluster's four areas of emphasis: gender and Islam, human rights, political economy, and media & culture. Research duties are multi-faceted and will be based on the nature of the professor's current projects. Fellows must be in residence during the term of the award and log twenty hours of work per week. They must secure approval for any other on-campus employment during the fellowship quarter. In some cases, fellowships may be renewed for an additional quarter.
