Funding

The Center for Engaged Scholarship (CES) advances progressive values such as greater equality within and across nations, more effective democratic governance, and more enlightened environmental policies. CES is planning to award at least five fellowships of $25,000 each for the 2019-2020 academic year. Apply by December 15, 2018.

OVERVIEW

The Center for Engaged Scholarship (CES) is an organization created by and for social scientists who want the United States to be a more democratic, more egalitarian, and more environmentally sustainable society. The CES fellowship is intended for Ph.D. students who have advanced to candidacy and are currently in their dissertation-writing phase. We welcome applicants from academic departments and programs in the social sciences, including history, and social science-focused interdisciplinary programs; applications will not be accepted this time from students in education, public health, and social work programs. We also seek a diverse pool of applicants in background and discipline.

  • Anthropology
  • Economics
  • Geography
  • History
  • Political Science
  • Social Psychology
  • Sociology

Work inspired by these disciplines carried out in interdisciplinary programs such as ethnic studies, women's studies, or American studies is also accepted.
