Overview
The Smithsonian Institution Fellowship Program offers opportunities for independent research or study related to Smithsonian collections, facilities, and/or research interests of the Institution and its staff. Fellowships are offered to graduate students, predoctoral students, and postdoctoral and senior investigators to conduct independent research and to utilize the resources of the Institution with members of the Smithsonian professional research staff serving as advisors and hosts.

Eligibility
Varies according to award level:

Graduate Fellowship: Must have completed at least one semester of coursework.

Predoctoral Fellowship: Must have advanced to candidacy.

Postdoctoral Fellowship: Doctoral degree must be completed by the time the fellowship begins.

Award
Graduate Fellowship: 10 week term, $7,500

Predoctoral Fellowship: 3-12 month term, $36,000 per year, plus up to $4,000 research allowance

Postdoctoral Fellowship: 3-12 month term, $50,400 per year plus up to $4,000 research allowance
