UCSB graduate students and research faculty with deep technology to bring to market are invited to participate in the UCLA Innovation Corps (I-Corps) Regional Program (ZAP).

Do you want to learn more about writing lit reviews? This workshop, offered by the UCSB Library on April 5 from 12-1pm in Library 1312, will offer strategies on how to take on this sometimes intimidating writing task. This workshop is open to all graduate students.

Are you interested in learning more about DEIA teaching practices, and finding a community of other like-minded instructors? Come to the Inclusive Teaching Symposium on March 20. The event will feature presentations on current inclusive pedagogy projects at UCSB, lightning talks from DEI Discussions reading group participants, and a Q&A session with Drs. Viji Sathy & Kelly Hogan.

Learn how you can propel your research into a startup and receive a $50,000 grant! The National Science Foundation's Innovation Corps (I-Corps) program is an entrepreneurial training program for university-based STEM researchers and early-stage startup founders with the primary purpose to support the transition of laboratory discoveries into breakthrough innovations.

CSEP Mentor Leadership Fellow Allison Chau and others will host a scholar-driven series of community building luncheons to provide information and exchange ideas around mentoring. The series kicks off On Mar 1 with a session highlighting mentoring and outreach opportunities available to graduate students and postdocs.

The deadline is approaching for the University Scouts Program, a new initiative by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in collaboration with the College Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO). The mission of the program is to help college and university start-up founders grow and succeed with the power of AWS technology and partner services. Applications due Feb 24.

Next Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 3-4pm, UCSB's Instructional Development will be hosting "Strategies for Equity-Minded Mentorship," a workshop where you can learn about best practices and resources for equity-minded mentorship, and reflect on what kinds of academic mentorship you can provide, in terms of supporting academic excellence or helping students navigate the academic ecosystem.

Are you looking for experience in project management outside the university? The PIPELINES program employs UCSB graduate students as mentors to teams of undergraduate & community college STEM students working with Naval-based research projects. All graduate mentors will earn $800. Read on for more info!

If so, the Interdisciplinary Humanities Center invites you to attend an upcoming information session about the Public Humanities Graduate Fellows Program, coming up February 22 & 23. Universities Research Association is seeking applications for paid Summer Fellowships for graduate students in 2023 at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL). This program provides research experience in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics that support SNL's Research Foundations. The application deadline is January 31.

Registration is now open for the Academic Laboratory Management & Leadership Symposium (ALMLS). The course is designed to equip postdocs, junior faculty, graduate students, and research staff in the biomedical, physical and life sciences with the professional competencies to lead innovative and productive research programs. Discount registration open until February 3!

The International Graduate Student Peer and Instructional Development are collaborating to host an Academic Job Market Pop-In space on January 24 from 1-3pm. Graduate students working on their academic job applications are invited to bring questions, concerns, or work in progress. Drinks, snacks, and goodie bags provided!

UCSB has an institutional membership with the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD). Their campus membership provides a series of mentoring services, including workshops focused on research and writing strategies, networking opportunities, and other forms of professional support. We encourage grads and postdocs to take advantage of these resources!

Stanford University is now accepting applications for teaching fellowship positions in the first-year requirement. The program seeks candidates from all fields in the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and STEM, and especially value interdisciplinary scholarship and teaching. Multiple positions with potential terms between three and four years are available. Applications due on February 1.
