Read on for tips from the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD)--an independent professional development, training, and mentoring community--about the difficulty of actually writing every day. Membership in the NCFDD (free for UCSB students!) provides several forms of professional support to help combat common problems academics face.

The UCSB Library will be offering an ORCID workshop for graduate students on Wednesday, June 7 from 12-1pm in Library Classroom 1312. ORCID is a unique, persistent digital identifier that you own and control, and that distinguishes you from every other researcher.

Virginia Tech is now accepting applications for the 2023 Future Faculty Diversity Program. This three-day program is designed to encourage graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to consider faculty positions at Virginia Tech. Application deadline is August 15.

GS^3 offers an in-person 10-week seminar program featuring talks from a diverse set of graduate students and/or postdocs who use simulation in their research. Seminars will be held 2-3p on Wednesdays from July 12-September 13.

University of California Alianza MX is accepting applications for funding support for graduate student short-term research stays in Mexico. The organizers are hosting an info session on May 15, and the application deadline is June 16.

During Winter 2023, visiting Graduate Career Consultant Vay Cao, founder of Free the PhD, hosted a number of virtual workshops on various topics related to graduate student professional development. These workshops were all recorded and are available to stream through your UCSB Google Account.

The UCSB Research Mentorship Program (RMP) is seeking graduate students, postdocs, and researchers for a paid mentorship opportunity this summer. Applications are due June 1.

The Rady MicroMBA, a program run out of UC San Diego, is now open to all graduate students and postdocs. This course, which runs July and August 2023, is designed to allow STEM researchers to get a basic understanding of the business topics they might encounter should they decide to take their research from the lab to market.
