This summer, the Graduate Division will once again offer an Oral Skills Workshop for prospective international Teaching Assistants. Departments are encouraged to recommend candidates who could benefit from an eleven-day intensive training workshop in oral academic English by Friday, June 24. Read on for more info!

UCSB Career Services is excited to announce current recruitment for a second Graduate Career Peer Position, to begin employment in Summer 2022 and run through Spring quarter 2023. This position will work with the current ​Graduate Career Peer and the Graduate Career Counselor to help graduate students on issues related to career development. Apply by Sunday, June 5 at midnight.

Apply for Free the PhD, a free 4-week virtual Career Bootcamp from June 27-July 22. The bootcamp will offer a blended professional development learning experience designed specifically for UCSB’s PhDs and Postdocs. Work with Free the PhD founder Vay Cao and UCSB’s Graduate Career Counselor Lana Smith-Hale to get individualized feedback, insider information on how to best sell your skills, and tips on how to network with the right people. UCSB's Center for Science and Engineering Partnerships (CSEP) is hiring 2-4 graduate students for positions at the center. Students from all disciplines are welcome to apply. The positions pay $22/hour for 10-15 hours of work per week. Read on to learn more!

The Graduate Simulation Seminar Series (GS^3) is back for summer 2022! GS^3 offers an in-person 10-week seminar program featuring talks from a diverse set of graduate students and/or postdocs who use simulation in their research, representing a wide swath of academic disciplines across UCSB. Seminars will be held on Wednesdays from 2-3p this summer, beginning July 13 and going through September 14. Read on for more info!

Virginia Tech has launched a new Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship program that will prepare postdocs for the next step in their careers, providing a two-year appointment with nationally competitive salaries and benefits. Zotero is a free bibliography management tool that helps you collect citations for your research and generate entries for notes and bibliographies. Workshops will be held in the UCSB Library.
