The University of California Global Food Initiative, in collaboration with USAID, is offering over 30 open positions with 21 different projects in 17 different countries under the Research and Innovation Fellowship for Agriculture (RIFA) program. Each fellowship lasts between 2-6 months and covers stipend, travel, insurance, and health coverage.
RIFA Fellows collaborate with a host institution in the country they are working in to develop robust projects that address global challenges in agriculture and food systems. Host organizations define the available opportunities, and a Fellow's collaborative work contributes integrally to the success and sustainability of ongoing projects and programs. Faculty mentors at the University of California also play an integral role, serving as resources and guiding Fellows in their projects.
Projects address a wide variety of topics including agriculture, food and livestock systems, agroecology, biodiversity, capacity building, and gender equity. Projects can be developed into theses or capstone projects and are excellent ways of applying theory to practice to create global impact! All University of California graduate students are eligible to apply.
