The Irell and Manella Graduate School of Biological Sciences is hosting the City of Hope's first annual Graduate Student Symposium on Thursday, August 31, in Los Angeles. This one-day event is planned entirely by students and ​aims to promote professional development and foster communication between graduate students in the southern California area. In addition to networking, there will be a keynote speaker and career panel with scientists from academia and industry.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Roy Parker, a professor of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Colorado Boulder. He currently studies RNA dysregulation in disease.
