This year, attendees will hear from five PhD candidates from English, Comparative Literature, Religious Studies, and MAT on how their interdisciplinary dissertation research intersects with cognitive science-- in addition to the presentations themselves, each of the participants will have a dedicated Q & A period so that audience members may ask questions and offer constructive feedback on their projects.
The presenters this year, in order of appearance, are:
Aili Pettersson Peeker (English):
"Beyond and I: A Study of Empathy, Attention, and Narrative Method in Woolf, Faulkner, and Morrison"
Alexis Crawshaw (MAT):
"Digital Paideia in Media Arts: Cognitive Science Approaches"
Daniel Martini (Comp Lit):
"The Lettrist Avant-Garde: Can Ecological Affordances be Broken?"
Kevin Whitesides (Religious Studies):
"Fleshing out the Skeletons of the New Age: Cultural Attractors in Countercultural Networks"
Maddie Roepe (English):
"The Hidden Language of Emotion"
This event will be structured like a conference panel, and is open to all: current and prospective CogSci students, as well as all interested grads, undergrads, and faculty, are all encouraged to attend!
