To recognize and encourage the efforts of graduate students who serve as effective mentors, the Graduate Division offers eight awards for students who have distinguished themselves in the area of undergraduate research supervision. Each of the recipients will receive $1000 and be profiled on GradPost. Nominations must be submitted through the student's home department and are due on May 6.
The UCSB Graduate Division is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2024 Graduate Division Mentoring Awards. To recognize and encourage the efforts of graduate students who serve as effective mentors, the Graduate Division offers two awards for students who have distinguished themselves in the area of undergraduate research supervision. Four graduate students will receive the Fiona and Michael Goodchild Graduate Mentoring Award, which recognizes students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, and four graduate students will receive the Carol Genetti Graduate Mentoring Award, which recognizes students in Social Sciences, Humanities, Education, and Fine Arts. Each of the eight recipients will receive $1000 and be profiled on GradPost.
NOMINATION PROCESS
- Departments may nominate a maximum of two (2) graduate students per year to be considered for the mentoring award
- Departments should internally coordinate their selections, and nominations must be submitted by the department chair or faculty graduate program advisor
- For programs and institutes not housed in academic departments that wish to nominate a student, please coordinate recommendations through the student's home department
The deadline to submit nominations is Monday, May 6, at 5 pm Pacific.
