Many Ph.D. students feel that their degree will be their main qualification when they enter the academic job market, but having relevant job experience is just as important in setting yourself apart from other applicants. Not only will job experience make you better qualified to pursue different career options, the process of gaining experience can help you figure out which careers most interest you to start with.
When you are on the academic job market, it can feel like a full-time job. That's why it's important to have a strategic plan as you enter into that phase of your grad school career. This workshop will give an overview of the academic hiring process as well as information on how to search for an academic job, what materials you will need to prepare for applications and campus visits, and how to develop a realistic timeframe.
