Join us on October 13 for a workshop for incoming undergraduate and graduate international students to prepare for handling imposter syndrome and culture shock and to be equipped for any mental health challenges that arise.

Thursday, October 1st, 2020 - 9:15am

"Are you an imposter?" is a webinar dedicated to all international students, both graduate and undergraduate, here at UCSB. During the webinar, two graduate students, two undergraduate students, and a CAPS representative will be talking about topics involving mental health well-being for the international student body as well as topics involving cultural shock.

Three of our guest speakers will each talk about one aspect of difficulty that international students might face in college and how to navigate through these challenges. Chye-Hong Liew from CAPS will talk about how to tackle mental health cultural stigma. Our UCSB alumni Calry Wang will share some insights on managing stress and anxiety. And finally, our grad student Suyi Leong will talk about culture shock and how to manage it. There will also be a Q&A session including Jason Wong from CAPS. It will be a great opportunity for our international students to raise any questions regarding mental health concerns or culture shock.
