Temple GrandinUCSB Arts & Lectures presents autism self-advocate, animal scientist, and bestselling author Temple Grandin in a lecture titled "Different Kinds of Minds Contribute to Society" on Tuesday, May 10, at 8 p.m. at The Granada Theatre.

Perhaps the most accomplished and well-known adult with autism, Temple Grandin, Ph.D., is an outspoken proponent of autism awareness and the best-selling author of several books, including "Emergence: Labeled Autistic, The Way I See It" and "Animals Make Us Human." She is currently a professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University.

Grandin's story revolutionized the way people think of an autism diagnosis, and she continues to inspire others. Through her ability to help people understand autism, Grandin successfully makes the case that the world benefits from people on the autism spectrum, such as visual thinkers, pattern thinkers, and verbal thinkers.
