Join the UCSB Library for a gallery talk on Friday, October 28, at 1:30 p.m. The new photo essay exhibit, The Other Malecon, features the work of photojournalist John Paul Gallagher that documents the lived experiences of people living around El Malecon, a boardwalk area in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. El Malecon is known for its luxurious restaurants, penthouses, casinos, and hotels. During the gallery talk, you will learn about the other side of Malecon, one riddled with social issues often hidden by the glamour.
