Come meet Luis Alberto Urrea, the best-selling author of The Hummingbird's Daughter and this year's UCSB Reads book Into the Beautiful North, at a special networking reception for graduate students on Monday, April 24, at 4 p.m. in the UCSB Library's Sunrise Room.

Urrea is the critically acclaimed and best-selling author of 16 books and has won numerous awards for his poetry, fiction, and essays. He is a 2005 Pulitzer Prize finalist for nonfiction and member of the Latino Literature Hall of Fame. His most recent book, The Water Museum, is a finalist for the 2015 PEN-Faulkner Award​.

Into the Beautiful North is a Big Read selection by the National Endowment of the Arts and has been selected by more than 30 different cities and colleges as a community read.
