Join the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UCSB and UC-Mexicanistas for their 22​nd annual colloquium on Mexican Literature (Nov 8-10). This three day event includes opportunities to hear from renowned writers, professors from Mexico, the U.S., and Europe, as well as performances and cultural activities. Events on all three days are free and open to the public.

Join the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UCSB and UC-Mexicanistas for their 22​nd annual colloquium on Mexican Literature. This year's theme, Literary (Dys)functions, ​explores the ​way a literary or artistic work is articulated and resolved in an interplay of simultaneous or successive tensions. Participants include renowned writers Mario Bellatin and David Huerta, zapotec muxe and performer Lukas Avenda~o, and professors from Mexico, the U.S., and Europe, as well as current and former students. There will be reading sessions, presentations of books published in 2018, and cultural activities related to the theme of the colloquium.

The three-day event begins on Thursday, November 8th, in UCSB's Multicultural Center Lounge and will continue on Friday, November 9th, in McCune Conference Room and in IHC Seminar Room; and on Saturday, November 10th, at Alhecama Theatre, 215 A, E. Canon Perdido St. in Santa Barbara. Events on all three days are free and open to the public. For more information, click here.
