In today’s world of polarized opinions, don’t we all need a waltz about weevils or a jitterbug on joules to bring us together? Join AAAS's 12th edition of the annual “Dance Your PhD” contest which challenges scientists to explain their research without PowerPoint slides or jargon—in fact with no talking at all. You could win $1000 and perhaps go viral on social media. The deadline to submit is January 21.

In today's world of polarized opinions, don't we all need a waltz about weevils or a jitterbug on joules to bring us together? The American Association for the Advancement of Science thinks explaining your PhD research through interpretive dance is just the recipe. Join their 12th edition of the annual "Dance Your PhD" contest which challenges scientists to explain their research without PowerPoint slides or jargon-in fact with no talking at all. It doesn't matter whether you're just starting your PhD or you completed it decades ago. All science should be explained with dance. You could win $1000 and perhaps go viral on social media. Just ask UCSB's very own Nancy Scherich, a PhD Student in the Mathematics Department won the 10th annual iteration of this competition! Read about her experience and get inspired to Dance Your PhD.

To enter, just create a video and upload it to YouTube. The deadline for submissions is January 21, 2020. To enter the contest, submit here. The winner will be announced at the AAAS annual meeting.
