UC Santa Barbara's Theater and Dance Department's 4th Annual Graduate Symposium, "ctrl + alt + del: Shifting Environments in Performance," will be held on May 2, 2020.

Call for Papers and Performances:
In an age replete with tectonic transformations of the physical, social, political and digital realms we inhabit, in what ways does the reshaping of environments, be they corporeal, cultural, or theoretical, frame conversations about performance? How are performance environments controlled, altered, deleted, or shifted? This graduate symposium calls for practitioners and scholars from all disciplines to consider the dynamic interpretations between environmental topographies and iterations of performance. They are seeking diverse papers and performances that explore concerns within the fields of subaltern studies, history, ethnic studies, religious studies, ethnomusicology, political science, sociology, critical theory, theater, and dance.
