Receive $50 a month to help cover the cost of your internet or cell phone! The Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) was authorized in December as part of a $2 trillion coronavirus aid package. This program is now live and can pay up to $50 per month toward the cost of your internet service or cell phone bill.

General eligibility for this program includes:

1. Experienced a substantial loss of income due to job loss or furlough since February 29, 2020 and the household had a total income in 2020 at or below $99,000 for single filers and $198,000 for joint filers.

2. Those who receive food stamps, Medicaid, supplemental Social Security income, federal public housing assistance, have a child who qualified for free and reduced-price lunch at school or received a federal Pell Grant for education. You can also qualify if your income is 135% or less than the federal poverty guidelines, which vary by household size and state.

3. Individuals who already receive subsidized or low-income Internet service, such the FCC's Lifeline or ISP-sponsored programs such as Comcast's $10 per month Internet Essentials.

The program will end when the fund runs out of money, or six months after the Department of Health and Human Services declares an end to the COVID-19 health emergency, whichever is sooner.

Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.
