This week, UCSB will send its 2018 Grad Slam champion, Mengya Tao from the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management, up to San Fransisco to compete against 9 other UC finalists in the 4th annual UC systemwide Grad Slam tournament on Thursday, May 3. âThis week, UCSB will send its 2018 Grad Slam champion, âMengya Tao from the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management, up to San Fransisco to compete against 9 other UC finalists âin the 4th annual UC systemwide Grad Slam tournament on Thursday, May 3, from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
And it's not just âbragging rights that are âat stake: the grand prize winner will receive $5,000, with $2,000 and $1,000 prizes for the runners-up. There will also be a People's Choice vote, and the winner of that will receive $1,000 - so be sure to tune in to the live-stream coverage of the event and vote for âMengya! Voting will be open for approximately 20 minutes immediately following the talks. More information on how to view and vote will be available here once the competition starts.
