UC Santa Barbara's Graduate Division would like to congratulate Logan Kozal, UCSB's campus winner and graduate student in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology, for winning the 2021 People's Choice Award at the UC-wide Grad Slam.
Logan's research on the heatwave-mitigating impact of mussel "parenting" on the depleting green shell population won over the judges and UCSB's Grad Slam Grand Prize of $5,000. At the UC-wide competition on May 7, 2021, Logan competed against all other UC campus winners. She took home $1,000 and the title of People's Choice Award.
