UCSB's Graduate Division is excited to welcome our new Graduate Career Peer Advisor, Patricia Morland. In this position, Patricia will develop programming and resources that foster a supportive and warm community for graduate students. Read on to find out more about Patricia!
HER STORYPatricia Morland (she/her) is originally from Austria. She came to the US at the tender age of 19, with $100 in her pockets and the dream of traveling the world. Well, somehow, many years later, she is still in California.

HER PASSIONSAs a first generation immigrant, first generation college student, non-native speaker from a poor background, Patricia is passionate about student advocacy and meeting students wherever they are and empowering them. Besides mentoring and teaching, Patricia is an avid outdoors person. Much of her life evolves around her Husky German Shepherd mix Fenrir, and her horse Lily. Whenever she can find time, she escapes to explore the Sierra up and down the 395. Patricia is passionate about combining her love of history and hiking, and hopes that after she is done with her dissertation, she will have more time for her blog.

FUN FACTSPatricia is a nerd. A proudly self-proclaimed nerd. She has a huge collection of pop culture shirts. She loves Star Wars, Marvel, and all things Tolkien. Her pandemic hobbies were learning yet another language - Spanish - and collecting Lego. |

HER ROLE AS A PEER
Patricia is really excited to work with you! As your Graduate Career Peer, she will work closely with Grad Div to develop and implement programs and resources of interest to you. She will also organize workshops, presentations, articles, and provide one-on one meetings.
