Kate Brody-Adams, the new Assistant Director of Professional Development, is a Santa Barbara native who has worked ​for the past six years as a Graduate Program Advisor and Clinical Advising Specialist at Fielding Graduate University.

​This week, UCSB will send its 2018 Grad Slam champion, ​Mengya Tao from the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management, up to San Fransisco to compete against 9 other UC finalists ​in the 4th annual UC systemwide Grad Slam tournament on Thursday, May 3. Find out how you can tune in and vote for Mengya in the People's Choice competition!

Nominations are now open for two awards honoring graduate students who have distinguished themselves as mentors of undergraduates. Nominations may come from academic and research units as well as individual faculty. The nomination deadline is Friday, April 27.

After two weeks of competition, only 9 graduate students remain ​to compete in the final round of the 2018 Grad Slam this Friday. With thousands of dollars of prize money up for grabs, this​ is sure to be an event that you won't want to miss. If you can't make it in person, you can tune into the live-stream through UC Santa Barbara's Facebook page to catch all the excitement!
