This is an opportunity to unwind, connect with fellow grad students and faculty, and build your networking skills in a casual setting. ALL graduate students and postdocs are invited to attend, regardless of participating at Grad Slam.

Thursday, April 10th
4:30-6:00pm
Library Room 1312 and Mountainside Courtyard

Brought to you by Graduate Division, Career Services and the Library, enjoy wine, hors d'oeuvres, and non-alcoholic drinks as we toast to the hard work, courage to step outside comfort zones, and new connections made during your graduate school experience.

Get Ready to Network!

Networking isn't just about making connections with industry professionals; it starts with the people around you! Peer networking, engaging with fellow students, can open doors to student organizations, internships, and even job opportunities. By connecting with peers, you gain valuable insights into career paths, campus resources, and industry trends that might otherwise go unnoticed. We encourage you to take the time at today's event to get to know folks outside of your bubble.

Here are a few tips to get you started:

  • After a brief introduction, use the networking prompts around the courtyard space to help get the conversation going. From there, continue the conversation organically and welcome new people to join.
  • Be yourself, even if networking feels uncomfortable. Networking with peers should be a safe space to practice talking about yourself, asking questions, and learning about others.
  • Share contact information with others if you'd like to stay in touch. Although this might feel a little awkward for some of us, this is a great way to keep the momentum going, either through phone number, email, or LinkedIn.

We'd love to invite you to further utilize your newfound or rediscovered networking skills with over 60 employers at Career Service's Spring Job + Internship Fair April 23 from 10am to 2pm at the Thunderdome.
