UC Santa Barbara division of undergraduate education is seeking a graduate student assistant to work at the Center for Innovative Teaching, Research, and Learning (CITRAL). The research assistant will work closely with the CITRAL team on implementation of ECoach at UC Santa Barbara during the 2019-20 academic year.

ECoach is a software application that enables CITRAL learning experts to gather qualitative, quantitative, and course-related data about students' learning experiences through the entirety of a specific course. The learning expert team then uses these data to provide tailored coaching to students intended to foster positive learning dispositions and engagement with course content in specific courses. The software, developed and hosted by the University of Michigan, thus supports learning at scale by providing the kind of course-specific, customized advice that students would receive in a smaller course or in section.

The ideal candidate has had experience with survey administration, data cleaning, and data visualization. The graduate student assistant will work on weekly tasks linked to data gathering and content testing for the ECoach platform. The graduate student assistant will work directly with the center directors and staff.
