The University of California Washington Program (UCDC) recently announced its first annual GOLD Fellowship opportunity for graduate students. This opportunity provides the chance to spend a quarter, semester or summer term in residence in DC to conduct public policy research. Fellowship recipients will receive a TAship in addition to free housing at the UC Washington Center. Deadline to apply is February 10, 2020.

The University of California Washington Program (UCDC) announces its first annual GOLD Fellowship opportunity. This opportunity will offer selected graduate students an opportunity to spend a quarter, semester or summer term in residence in Washington, DC for the purpose of conducting public policy research on issues of national significance and assist in providing professional development training to undergraduate students.

In addition, at the end of the term, the fellow will give a lunchtime presentation of the research they conduct in DC. The presentation should be accessible to UCDC undergraduate students but will be open to UCDC staff and faculty as well as Federal Governmental Relations staff.

Fellowship recipients will receive a TAship, which includes payment of California Resident Tuition and Student Services Fees in addition to free housing at the UC Washington Center. Selection will be based on a combination of demonstrated interest in public policy and/or public service; academic accomplishment and potential for a career in public policy or public service.

As a TA, the GOLD fellow will be responsible for working 16-20 hours per week, including evening office hours for undergraduate writing assistance. Additional responsibilities may include, among other tasks, proctoring exams and guest lecturing or otherwise covering class in support of UCDC faculty and academic staff. TA salary will be commensurate with the candidate's campus TA salary.
