The Office of Summer Sessions is hiring an Academic Programs Assistant. Under the supervision of the Director of Academic Programs, the Academic Programs Assistant is a key member of the administrative and academic team, providing executive-level support with program application evaluations for admission, program development, planning and preparation, team leadership, recruitment, in-session assistance, and assessment.
Job Details:
Compensation: $21-25/hr, commensurate to relevant experience
Hours: 10-20 hours/week during Fall/Winter/Spring quarters. 20-40 hours/week during Summer quarter (subject to availability).
Location: Office of Summer Sessions. Some work may be done remotely.
Role and Responsibilities:
• Fall quarter - Training on platforms, procedures, and programs. Serve as part of the Summer Research Academies (SRA) track review committee. Review mentor training documentation and collaborate on outreach plan. Present marketing webinars for prospective applicants. Other tasks as assigned.
• Winter quarter - Review RMP applications. Assist Director with academic planning and RMP mentor recruitment. Present preparation webinars for prospects and admits. Form part of the Transfer Edge Peer Mentor hiring committee. Other tasks as assigned.
• Spring quarter - Review RMP project submissions. Review program handbooks for admitted students and academic staff. Assist Director with academic and program preparation/implementation. Participate in academic and program staff training for in-session events. Collaborate with Director on an effective communication plan with students in session. Other tasks as assigned.
• Summer quarter - Provide in-session assistance to all team members. Contribute content to community building platforms. Create weekly email digests for programs. Provide high-level support for students. Actively participate in team meetings. Assist Director with program assessment and general administration needs. Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Graduate student in good academic standing.
• Proven ability to be organized, responsible, creative, and attentive to details.
• Works well individually and as part of a team to successfully deliver academic programs.
• Ability to follow guidelines and contribute content to community building platforms.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Solutions-oriented with a positive attitude.
• Well-versed in interdisciplinary research
Desirable Requirements:
• Teaching and mentorship experience. Experience with outreach programming, particularly with pre-college and college students.
