As a means of increasing the number of U.S. citizens and nationals trained in science and engineering disciplines of military importance, the Department of Defense (DoD) plans to award approximately 180 new three-year graduate fellowships. Deadline is December 9.

The purpose of the George Bennett Fellowship is to provide time and freedom from material considerations to a person seriously contemplating or pursuing a career as a writer. The deadline to apply is November 30.

The Harry Ransom Center, an internationally renowned humanities research library and museum at The University of Texas at Austin, invites applications for its 2017-2018 research fellowships. Deadline is November 15.

GEM is a network of corporations, laboratories, universities, and research institutions that enables qualified students from underrepresented communities to pursue graduate education in applied science and engineering. Deadline is November 15.

The AAUW is providing more than $3.7 million in funding for more than 230 fellowships and grants to outstanding women and nonprofit organizations in the 2016-17 academic year. Check out the six different types of fellowships and grants they offer, with the first deadline being November 15, 2016.

The Amelia Earhart Fellowship is awarded to women of any nationality pursuing a Ph.D or doctoral degree who demonstrate a superior academic record in the field of aerospace-related sciences or aerospace-related engineering. Deadline is November 15, 2016.

The NC State University Building Future Faculty (BFF) Program is a two-day all-expenses-paid workshop for doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars who are interested in pursuing academic careers and who are committed to promoting diversity in higher education. Deadline is November 13.

Applicants to the California Alliance Postdoctoral Fellowship Program are afforded the opportunity of being considered by all four California Alliance institutions and may also be considered by affiliated national laboratories. The priority deadline is November 1, but applications are accepted year-round.

The Hertz Foundation provides merit-based support for 20 doctoral students in the applied physical, biological, or engineering sciences for up to 5 years. Hertz hopes to fund future innovators and leaders in the sciences. Deadline is October 28, 2016.

Through its Fellowship Programs, the Ford Foundation seeks to increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties. The competitions for their predoctoral, dissertation, and postdoctoral fellowships are now open, and the first deadline is November 10, 2016.

The American Educational Research Association (AERA) is now accepting applications for its Minority Dissertation Fellowship Program in Education Research, which is targeted for members of racial and ethnic groups historically underrepresented in higher education. The deadline is November 1.

The Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies at Stanford University invites applications for the Wayne Vucinich Fellowship. This is a 12-week residential fellowship to be offered in Winter 2017. The fellowship is open to scholars working on the region in any discipline.

The University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program was established in 1984 to encourage outstanding women and minority Ph.D. recipients to pursue academic careers at the University of California. The deadline to apply is November 1.

The Non​-​traditional Student Resource Center (NTRSC) is looking to hire a graduate student assistant for the year. The application deadline is Friday, September 9 at 4 p.m.
