Gloria SteinemSocial activist, writer, and editor Gloria Steinem delivered a rousing talk at the Arlington Theatre on March 2, courtesy of UCSB Arts & Lectures. Guests were lucky to go home that evening with a dose of inspiration from the icon, as well as signed copies of her bestselling book My Life on the Road.

During the Q&A, Steinem offered her three most effective strategies for social activism:

Take individual action:
Get up in the morning and think: "What outrageous thing am I gonna do today in the cause of social justice?"

Take group action:
Ask: "What am I going do to connect with other social groups?"

Be free:
How do we know when we are free? When we can laugh. It is truly the only free emotion. Make sure it's part of your life. If you are somewhere they won't let you laugh, get out!
