The Continuing Resolution that was funding USDA and nutrition programs including CalFresh expired on December 21. USDA has not received appropriations to fund CalFresh past January 20 and has instructed states to issue benefits early - no later than January 20. After January 20, there are USDA SNAP contingency funds that will be available until those funds run out.

Please read carefully:
(1) Most ongoing cases will receive their February CalFresh allotments between January 16 and January 20. They will not receive benefits in the month of February. This may require some additional attention when budgeting, to ensure that benefits last through the end of February.
(2) Clients who are re-certifying in January should get their paperwork as soon as possible, so that their February benefits can be part of the early issuance.
(3) If current clients are re-certifying in January and they do not get their report in before January 16, they will receive their February allotment between February 1 and February 10, provided USDA contingency funds are still available.
(4) Clients who apply and are determined eligible after January 20 and in February will receive their CalFresh in February as usual, provided USDA contingency funds are still available.
(5) EBT will continue to work at local grocery stores and the UCSB Arbor.
(6) The plans for March are currently uncertain.
(7) We encourage students who have not applied for CalFresh, but were planning/hoping to, to still visit an advocate.
(8) CalFresh is hosting an Enrollment Party on January 23, 5-7 p.m. at the Multicultural Center.

UCSB will continue to provide services and support through the following resources, and we encourage you to take advantage of them. They include:
