Merck, the oldest pharmaceutical and chemical company in the world, is celebrating its 350th anniversary by offering a series of exciting opportunities - the 350 Research Grant and the 350 Challenge - in science and technology and are inviting scientists and researchers to get engaged. The deadline for both competitions is August 15, 2018.

Fifteen people will be selected for the Scientist Sentinels: Civic Engagement & Leadership Program which provides a 6-month leadership program for focusing on civic engagement for scientists and researchers. The deadline to apply is February 20, 2018.

The Data Science Fellows Program offers students paid in-residence opportunities at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) to work closely with data and informatics teams to solve data, analysis, and software issues relating to environmental science. The deadline is February 1, 2018 for full consideration and by March 1, 2018 at the latest.

The L’Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program honors female scientists at a critical stage in their careers with grants of $60,000 each. Application deadline is February 2, 2018.
