OVERVIEW

Two opportunities are available for PhDs seeking work experience in product or research teams. More specifics below and at the indicated website.

Microsoft Research (MSR) Team

Interns put inquiry and theory into practice. During the 12-week internship with Microsoft Research, students get to collaborate with award-winning researchers and other interns to present their findings and contribute to the research community. Internships are paid and available in all areas of research across all labs including quantum, artificial intelligence, systems, VR/AR and more. Internships are offered year-round, but typically begin in the summer. We can also help with visa applications where needed. More information can be found at Microsoft Research.

Microsoft Product Team

For our Product teams we hire more engineering centric PhD interns. For example: Applied Scientist, Data Scientist, and Production Software Engineers (SWE.) This is a 12-week internship in Summer and or Spring and is designed to be a conversion program to FTE post-graduation - based on successful completion. Recruiting begins early August-December for Summer internships, and March-June for Fall internships. Students are expected to collaborate with other interns and product teammates & colleagues. Internships are paid and available in many areas like Artificial Intelligence & Research (AI&R), Cloud & Enterprise (C&E), Windows & Devices (WDG), and the Office Product Group (OPG). Location will vary but typically interns will be placed at Microsoft Headquarters in Redmond, WA and or Sunnyvale, CA. We can also help with visa applications where needed. More information can be found at Product Teams.

NOTE

International students may apply.
