The US Department of Education is now accepting applications for the 2020 Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) Fellowship Program. The Fulbright-Hays DDRA Fellowship provides funding for PhD candidates to conduct research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies. Apply for the internal campus review by February 4th!
OVERVIEW
The US Department of Education is now accepting applications for the 2020 Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Fellowship Program. The Fulbright-Hays DDRA Fellowship allows PhD candidates to conduct research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies. Proposed research projects should focus on one or more of the following geographic areas: Africa, East Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands, South Asia, the Near East, Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia, and the Western Hemisphere (excluding the United States and its territories).
Priority in preference will be given to research on less commonly taught languages (any language other than French, German, and Spanish) and research with a thematic focus on the field of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, computer science, education (comparative or international), international development, political science, public health, or economics.

Estimated range: $15,000-$60,000
Average award: $35,000

ELIGIBILITY
Doctoral students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents and will have advanced to candidacy prior to the start of the 2020 fellowship are eligible to apply.
