To recognize and encourage the efforts of graduate students who serve as effective mentors, the Graduate Division offers eight awards for students who have distinguished themselves in the area of undergraduate research supervision. Each of the recipients will receive $1000 and be profiled on GradPost. Nominations must be submitted through the student's home department and are due on May 6.

The UCSB Graduate Division is accepting applications for the Google PhD Fellowship. Google created this Fellowship Program to recognize outstanding graduate students doing exceptional and innovative research in areas relevant to computer science and related fields. The Fellowship, which can last up to three years, provides full tuition and fees plus a stipend. UCSB students should submit applications for internal review by April 26 at 5pm.

The Mellichamp Mind and Machine Intelligence Initiative is organizing three AI/Human Creativity contests: Short Story, Visual Art, and Music. The contests aim to compare the creative capabilities of humans, AI, and human/AI collaboration. There is a $700 prize for each contest. The deadline to submit it April 10.

Join UCSB's MFA students for this "formally informal" event for grad students to showcase their work on April 12. You can RSVP as either an audience member or a performer. Because of limited space, RSVPs are required. After the show, there will be free food and a social hour to mingle and make connections with other creative graduates.

UCSB Student Affairs is excited to announce that they are now accepting nominations for their 2024 University Awards! All faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to nominate outstanding students who will receive an undergraduate or graduate degree in the 2023-2024 academic year. Harvard is sponsoring eligible late-stage doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows for week-long visits to campus with a host faculty member.
