The Office of Teaching and Learning is seeking graduate students who identify as first-gen college graduates or former transfer students to connect, discuss, or present at the First-Gen & Transfer Scholars Welcome event on Wednesday, September 26.

Applications are now open for the Supporting Outstanding Academic Research (SOAR) Awards. The selection committee is soliciting applications from post-doctoral researchers and graduating PhD students in Psychology, Neuroscience, Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, or related fields with identities or perspectives under-represented in science and/or research interests that foster inclusivity in behavioral and brain sciences. Apply by October 25.

UCSB's Fall campus-wide TA Orientation is required for all graduate students who will be teaching assistants (TAs) or readers for the first time during the 2023-24 school year. Live events run on September 25 and 26, and asynchronous modules are available from September 18-26. Register now and save the dates!

The Graduate Simulation Seminar Series (GS^3) is very excited to announce that their 2023-2024 Invited Speaker, Maryam Ghazisaeidi (Ohio State University, Ghazisaeidi group) will be visiting UCSB on Thursday and Friday, September 28-29! The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) will be implementing a new employment policy for international students, effective starting September 28, 2023. Starting this Fall, international students may work 20 hours on campus and 20 hours off campus when school is in session. Read on for more info!

UCSB's McNair Scholars Program is currently accepting applications for the position of Graduate Writing Specialist (WS), to begin Fall 2023 and continue throughout the academic year. Applications are due by 5pm on Monday, September 18.

The Latinxs & the Environment Initiative at UC Riverside invites you to participate in their inaugural research conference. The conference theme is "Conectando a la comunidad Latina en la investigación ambiental y el cambio social." The extended deadline is September 6.

The application for the 2024 Christine Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program is now open. This program brings graduate students and early-career professionals to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. The 2024 Fellowship will run from March 4-May 24, 2024. Applications are due October 16, 2023.

CNSI at UCSB is launching the second cohort of the Innovation 360 workshop, successfully piloted last year through BioPACIFIC MIP. The workshop’s modules will kick off on October 12. Space is limited, so sign up today!

The ONDAS Student Center is currently recruiting graduate students to participate in "Thriving, Not Surviving: Navigating Higher Education as a First-Generation College Student." This panel discussion and mixer on first-generation college students' experiences will be held on August 30. Graduate Students who participate as a Panelist and/or Mentor Mixer at the event will be compensated.
