One of the most essential writing genres for a graduate student to master is one that is rarely formally taught: grant/fellowship applications. Because every grant/fellowship has its own style, this workshop on January 30 will focus on larger genre concerns, such as how to identify your audience, how to make your work sound important, and how to figure out what a particular agency is looking to fund.

There are a range of employment visas, as well as U.S. permanent resident statuses, that can allow you to work in the U.S. after you finish your program at UCSB. On January 18, join immigration law specialist Adam Green, a practicing attorney in the Los Angeles area, for a free workshop on employment immigration issues, particularly the transition from student statuses to employment statuses.

Do you think you’re up for the challenge of presenting an interesting, spatially-relevant topic in just three minutes? Prospective speakers for the 2019 Spatial Lightning Talks are invited to sign up by February 1. Path to Postdoc @ UCSF is a unique program for outstanding senior graduate students (that will complete their PhD by the end of 2019) to be exposed to world-class research opportunities at UCSF.
