We've all been there: there's an assignment to write, but we just can't bring ourselves to do it. This workshop on March 31st is designed to provide an honest conversation on writer's block - what it is in all its forms. It will then offer strategies to help writers with particular writer's block tendencies, from the small (e.g., ​lack of focus) to the large (e.g., psychological fears). RSVP today!

The Graduate Student Association (GSA) recently sent out an update on vaccine eligibility for graduate students. Graduate student employees qualify as part of the current Phase 1B rollout. Therefore, if UCSB is paying you — generally determined by whether you receive your paycheck through UCPath — then you are right now eligible to receive the vaccine in Santa Barbara County. “Hot Dads and Super Moms? Musseling up against Marine Heatwaves” was the quirky title for this year’s winning 3-minute talk from this year’s UCSB Grad Slam Champion Logan Kozal, a graduate student in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology. Logan was among ten graduate student finalists who participated in the first-ever virtual Grad Slam, live-streamed on UC Santa Barbara’s YouTube channel on March 8th.
