Finding and borrowing materials from libraries across the UC system is about to get easier. On July 27, 2021, the libraries on all 10 University of California campuses will be connected through UC Library Search, a unified discovery and borrowing system that will allow you to borrow and renew materials from any library in the UC system using only your UCSB NetID and password. The University of California recently announced a transformative open access agreement with Elsevier, the world’s largest academic publisher. The new four-year agreement will go into effect on April 1, 2021, restoring UC’s direct online access to Elsevier journals and doubling the number of articles covered by current UC open access agreements. Stanford PRISM (Postdoctoral Recruitment Initiative in Sciences and Medicine) is an opportunity for select late-stage graduate students from diverse backgrounds to explore postdoctoral training at Stanford, including interviewing with potential mentors, getting the inside scoop on postdoctoral training at Stanford from current postdocs, and accessing professional development to score the best postdoc for them. The “Pillars of Teaching Assistantship” workshop series and certificate is designed to provide TAs with a comprehensive, research-based foundation for teaching in the role of TA. TAs will earn a Pillars certificate after completing all six workshops and their brief pre- and post- workshop activities. The UCSB Library is preparing to reopen a portion of the main Library for limited student study space at the beginning of Spring quarter on March 29th. Seats will be available by reservation-only for current UCSB students as well as faculty and staff. Reservations can be made up to two weeks in advance and users will be able to book up to 15 hours per week. Read on to learn more!
