As part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the Graduate Division will provide 50 summer stipends of $7,000 to doctoral students whose research and progress toward the completion of their degrees were severely impacted by the global pandemic. You are eligible for this program if you are currently registered in a UCSB doctoral program and experienced demonstrable delays in research and/or academic progress due to the global pandemic. Priority will be given to advanced doctoral students. Submit an application by Friday, July 9 to be considered!

The Engaging Teaching Symposium provides a space to reflect on teaching over the past year: what you tried, what “worked” or “didn’t work,” and how it might inform your teaching in the upcoming quarters. The symposium will take place on Wednesdays and Fridays from October 6-11, 2021. Submissions are now being accepted for roundtables, 30-minute workshops, and poster sessions. Are you interested in teaching at a community college? Check out a new mentorship program called The Rancho Academy, designed for students interested in a faculty or administrator career at the community college level. The program is a six-week to ten-week commitment at no cost and students will be matched with a faculty or administrator mentor. Students are welcome to apply by August 19, 2021 to the next cohort which begins on September 1, 2021 or by October 14, 2021 to join the cohort beginning on November 1, 2021. Read on to learn more!

UCSB Arts & Lectures announces the return of FREE Summer Cinema with Be Excellent & Party On! - Movies Under the Stars in Your Cars on Thursday evenings at 8:30pm from July 1 through Aug. 12 at West Wind Drive-in Santa Barbara. The eFellows program places early career PhDs in engineering fields in university research postdoctoral fellowships. In addition to hands-on academic research with a faculty advisor, each fellowship cohort will participate in professional development and mentoring activities designed to prepare them for future research careers.
